About the Role

This is not a remote position. You will need to be on one of our Data Centre Sites (located in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch) Role Overview and Objectives The 24x7 Operations Manager role provides management oversight on a 24x7 basis for everything that is happening on the operational and customer deliverable side of the data centres through NZ and AU. A key responsibility of this role is to manage ad-hoc customer requests that need to be undertaken, assessing, reorganising priorities and clearly communicating with the operational team and customers the expected delivery times. Fronting, if necessary, customer complaints and providing appropriate responses. The 24x7 Operations Manager role is focused on taking command and marshalling all resources in support of a data centre in times of difficulty. You must maintain a strong customer focus, obsessing over customer deliverables and demanding the highest standards in operational deliverables.

About you

  • Preferably previous experience working in a Data Centre environment (racking amp; stacking gear, cable management, hot amp; cold aisle containment)
  • Leadership experience in an Operational Environment.
  • Proven experience as an outstanding leader with excellent people management skills
  • Able to deal with emergencies and conflict situations calmly and effectively.
  • Able to resolve amicably customer operational issues as they arise.
  • Extensive experience in operational efficiencies and operational process creation and reviews
  • Ability to proactively communicate with the team to offer support and advice.
  • Clear and effective communicator at all levels of the business.
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills.
  • Able to apply logic and best practice to problem solving.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for the management oversight of the 24x7 Data Centre Operations team who are actively engaged in the daily BAU running and maintenance of our Data Centres.

Key responsibilities below;

  • Ensuring all Datacom security objectives are strictly adhered to.
  • Responsible for all activities (24x7) undertaken by the Data Centre operations team.
  • Prioritise and assign tasks to Data Centre Technicians and Operators.
  • Assisting in the running of projects and delivering scheduled training as required.
  • Prime contact whilst on shift for customer and Datacom staff operational issues.
  • Prime contact for the integration of new or continual business improvements into the operations team.
  • Acting as a point of escalation whilst on shift for operational issues and incidents.
  • Convey good communications during and across shifts to ensure a consistent and seamless service 24x7.
  • Manage Operations team’s delivery
  • Major Incident management on behalf of Operations
  • Ensure an outstanding customer experience through operational excellence
  • Being part of a culture of continuous improvement, seeking out efficiencies, service improvements, and new ways of working
