The Role | Te mahi

The position of Night Manager spans across Front Office Reception and Night Audit tasks, requiring a hospitality professional with a level head, professionalism and the ability to make our guests welcome with exceptional service.

From checking guests in/out, through to dealing with guest complaints, this varied position will require exceptional communication skills and the ability to think on your feet. You will be confident in your decision making and have a strong focus on safety and security.

You will be able to problem solve to ensure accuracy in accounting and be able to work unsupervised. You must be strong in using computer systems, reporting and spreadsheeting.


Responsibilities | Nga Haepapa

  • Manage the hotel whilst on shift and when senior managers are not present
  • Assist in Front Desk operations to ensure our guests are receiving the best possible service
  • Complete Audit procedures and tasks, including running financial reports, account reconciliation, investigate anomalies and complete any other end-of-night tasks
  • Ability to create, interpret and present detailed reports
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with all hotel departments, teams, senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Hygiene Standards are being met and reported as per policy
  • Ensure all complaints are dealt with appropriately
  • Attend to any emergency issues including security, maintenance, fire, or evacuation
  • Carry out regular security walks and check all areas of the hotel (quality and presence)
  • Comply with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and amendments, Smoke Free Environments Act 1990 and the Gambling Act 2003 New Zealand Legislation

Requirements

  • A current GM Certificate
  • Previous front office experience at supervisory level, with a minimum of 1-years’ experience in a Night Audit role
  • Accounts experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised, on your own and as part of a team
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Immaculate personal presentation
  • High level of communication - both written and verbal
  • A commitment to being a reliable member of the night team and be able to work 11:00pm to 7:30am on a rostered basis including weekends and public holidays
  • Knowledge of HMS is advantageous
  • Full NZ Drivers License
  • Valid right to work in NZ
