About The Role

We are currently seeking a talented and highly skilled Head Chef to lead a large kitchen team responsible for the hotel’s Famp;B program. The candidate will be responsible for the hotel’s restaurants, bars, in-room dining and conferencing.

The candidate will be supported by a team of talented culinary consultants across the Sudima network providing exceptional experiences for in house guests and external patrons.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Rotorua with annual salary of $80,000.


Responsibilities

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing excellent quality food through an innovative menu
  • Provide leadership, performance management and development amp; coaching to the talented kitchen team.
  • Developing and delivering a culinary experience which exceeds expectations
  • Maintaining excellent presentation standards and cost control for all food outlets
  • Ensuring the highest possible standard of hygiene is practiced and maintained by the entire Kitchen team to meet Health amp; Safety regulations
  • Cultivate a positive work environment where team members work and learn together, driving each other to be the best they can be through encouragement and support
  • Work closely with colleagues to meet food and beverage operational objectives.
  • Be an active contributor in the Leadership Team providing updates and reporting

Requirements


  • 4-5 years in a leading restaurant or hotel
  • The ability to roster a kitchen team for all outlets
  • Willingness to collaborate with external consultants across Sudima group including marketing and culinary advisors
  • The ability to lead a large kitchen team in the hotel, supervise intensive training programs and develop a highly skilled internal team adaptable across all outlets
  • Engage with marketing agency and internal marketing teams to promote the hotel and restaurant brands
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills
  • Hold established contacts with local suppliers with ability manage various stakeholders
  • A solid command of managing wage costs and efficiency with purchasing.
  • Ability to manage a team of chefs in a busy kitchen, dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
  • Understanding of current culinary trends and kitchen processes
  • Up-to-date knowledge of NZ Food Safety, Food Control Plan, and general Health amp; Safety legislation (Hamp;S at Work Act 2015)
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and ideally be already in NZ to be considered for the role.
