We are on the lookout for a full time experienced Chef de Partie with creative skills and a desire to innovate and ensure consistent quality food. This is a permanent, full time role based at Sudima Lake Rotorua. The pay rate is $28 per hour with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week.


Responsibilities | Nga haepapa

  • Plans and organises the preparation and cooking of food in a busy restaurant, bar, room service and conferencing environment
  • Plans menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Monitors the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discusses food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
  • Demonstrates techniques and advises on cooking procedures
  • Prepares and cooks food
  • Explains and enforces hygiene regulations
  • Assist with selecting and trains staff
  • Freezes and preserves foods

Requirements

We seek team members with a great attitude. In addition to that, the following skills will see you succeed in this role.

  • Previous proven experience as a Chef de Partie, in a medium to large, busy kitchen
  • The successful candidate must have a certificate at NZQF level 4 or higher, which includes the credit and knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4)
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
  • Knowledge of best cooking practices
  • An understanding of culinary trends and a passion to gain new knowledge
  • Planning and organising skills and an ability to work individually and in a team
  • Ability to multi-task, show flexibility and meet deadlines, work under pressure.
  • Flexible to work rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays.
  • Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
