About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the Smartly product development team here at Datacom as an intermediate QA Automation Tester.
You’ll be responsible for upholding the quality of the product and its automated solutions, building on our industry-leading frameworks in the API, UI and mobile space. You will be a key player in creating, maintaining, and supporting our automation solutions, providing technical support and expertise to junior automation engineers, actively participating in scrum team activities, and contribute to building great software.
This role can be worked from any Datacom office in NZ.
Your Responsibilities
- Create detailed and accurate test plans and BDD scenarios based on requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Build upon an existing framework to develop amp; execute automated test plans against developed features. Identify and report defects, work with team to resolve.
- Perform testing across a range of areas - Front end/UI, database, API, performance, regression amp; smoke testing
- Ensure test environments are an accurate representation of the client environment. Use test data and environments in strict accordance with all internal and customer security and auditing standards.
- Take responsibility for estimating, planning, and progress reporting on your tasks and ensure they are done quickly and accurately.
- Prepare and maintain documentation on system automation functionality, processes, and test approaches
- Continuous improvement of automation framework and workflow processes, keep solutions up to date with latest technologies
- Peer-review of the work of other team members
- Guide and mentor junior team members as work is planned and delivered.
What you'll bring
- 3+ years experience creating and maintaining automated test scripts using C# (essential) and java (desired) programming languages.
- Proven experience with create test suites with Open Source and/or commercial tools and frameworks like Selenium, JUnit
- Solid understanding of good software development practices and current methodologies and tools such as OOP, BDD/Gherkin
- Knowledge or experience designing, building and maintaining automation test frameworks
- Proven experience with workflow / test management tools e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps
- Experience writing SQL scripts for analysis and test automation
- Experience in CI/CD, source control systems, and configuration management is advantageous
- Experience working across a range of architectures (e.g. API testing, UI testing, application security, contract testing, performance testing)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
