Requirements

The Software Engineering Team Lead is responsible for helping to nurture, mentor and manage Ramp;D teams, whilst maintaining an active role within the codebase (hands-on technical work). This role would suit someone with a solid background in software engineering and the ability to lead, motivate and build strong teams. Therefore a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills to be able to engage with all levels of our business is a must.

Your role will be split between hands-on technical work, and people leadership work. The workload for each of these is variable, people leadership and people management may take up most of your time some weeks, whilst other weeks may be filled entirely with technical tasks. Flexibility, adaptability and being able to effectively self manage will be important. The top priority is the well being of your team and their performance.


Key Tasks and Expected Results

  • Actively work on development tasks and deliver high quality solutions.
  • Champion, suggest or improve Ramp;D practices
  • Discuss requirements with developers, data scientists, and the head of product.
  • Proactively raise concerns and solutions for emerging or existing problems.
  • Day to Day line management of your team - leave approval, wellbeing etc
  • Fortnightly 1:1’s with your team to assist with coaching and career development.
  • To conduct Performance and Salary Reviews with your direct reports, as appropriate.
  • Be able to articulate the business impact of the work you and the team are doing.
  • Be actively involved in recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new team members.

  • Good organisational skills and ability to take initiative
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind scalable applications.
  • Experience in Python
  • Experience or familiarity with message-based microservices is a plus
  • Experience or familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch and Kafka is a plus
