Foodstuffs Own Brands is the business responsible for product development, sourcing, and quality control on private label products exclusively for the Foodstuffs retail and wholesale banners nationally. We own several brands, the most iconic of which is the much-loved Pams brand which holds the title of New Zealand’s leading grocery brand. Our brands have been a big part of the kitchens, dinner tables and homes of New Zealanders for over 80 years. From our humble beginnings when we supplied just Pams baking and custard powder, we now boast a range of over 3000 products with everything from baking to butchery, to fresh produce and grocery. We aim to inspire New Zealanders with affordable, high quality, innovative products that are supported by simple yet delicious recipes, mealtime solution and household tips.
A bit about the role’s day to day:As a Lead Product Manager with Foodstuffs Own Brand, you will be a senior role within a team that’s tasked with product development from market analysis, through procurement and packaging design, to the launching of our Value, Pams and Finest ranges. Working closely with our Merchandise teams (both in Foodstuffs North Island and Foodstuffs South Island) you’ll be:· Managing the performance of existing Foodstuffs Own Brand products in assigned categories through-out the product life cycle, through effective category reviews and close ongoing engagement with the Foodstuffs regions· Managing supplier relationships across logistics, pricing, and ongoing performance · End-to-end product development in conjunction with our Technical and Quality Manager and Marketing team, including data creation and managing artwork design · Ongoing monitoring of our product performance and broader market performance.
Some helpful experience to have:Our ideal Foodie is someone with FMCG product management experience, and a good balance of commercial acumen and passion for great product. Relevant New Zealand and/or International FMCG Supermarket retail or supplier experience in either product development or category management is and essential requirement. You’ll have fabulous communication skills, confidence delving deep into the numbers, and an understanding of how a cooperative model works. You need to be comfortable working in a highly engaged and collaborative team environment and understand the intricacies of stakeholder engagement If you have a solid background in a retail environment and you’re looking for your next challenge, then this could be the role for you.
