We are looking for a Technical Pre-Sales guru to join Silverstripe! You will be someone who can apply a broad understanding of technical development and products to solve customers’ business problems. We are pretty flexible on location, though we would love it if you were based in Wellington or Auckland.

About the role

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will be responsible for growing Silverstripe’s market intelligence on its services, main platform and CMS competitors, monitoring market trends, developing product and services content, information assets and comparing information to support product, marketing and sales activity.

This role is a key position in the Sales amp; Marketing team - you will provide thought leadership with guidance from the Sales Director. The role supports their respective efforts to market and sell the value propositions of Silverstripe’s products and services offerings in-line with company strategy with the ultimate goal of achieving our sales targets (revenue).


  • Provide technical knowledge and expertise for pre-sales activities and solution qualification
  • Supporting sales to qualify potential opportunities prior to engagement
  • Develop sales tools including demos, competitive data and sales material for sales people to become more self-sufficient. Looking for ways to improve their efficiency
  • For Product-only sales, provide technical backup, gather feedback for the product team, and work with the sales team to close (contract/SOW signed)
  • For Bespoke/customer experience/services lead sales work with Programme to hand over projects.
  • Gather client and prospect insights and liaise with the whole company to share and socialise this information and learnings
  • Influence service and product development through customer feedback and identified business opportunitiesMonitor and communicate key market trends, the competitive landscape and the perception of Silverstripe in the market
  • Be the expert on our buyers and our key competitors, how they buy, and their buying criteria. Be the expert on our key competitors and how we compare to them
  • Develop in-depth product knowledge and capability to respond to technical questions and enquiries
  • Working with all members in the Sales and Marketing team to ensure the strategy is delivered

What will I need to be successful?

  • A relevant formal qualification and/or at least 3+ years experience in marketing or product development
  • Understanding of the sales process and how to support sales to control and manage a client through the process
  • Strong interpersonal skills - building relationships with a diverse range of people from managers to executives
  • Ability to distill and clearly articulate needs, issues and insights, and communicate these across stakeholders while maintaining the trust and confidence of both parties by confidently leading presentations or client meetings
  • Can work under pressure and maintain effective working relationships with wide range of personalities across a complex organisation
  • Good understanding of web design, development, hosting and project management approaches
  • Previous experience using CRM, Salesforce and/or other reporting tools
  • Experience in IT or ICT (technology/Digital) service industry (highly desirable)
