About The Role - Te mahi

As a breakfast chef you would be responsible to prepare and deliver to breakfast service, providing a high standard of fresh food. Oversee the checking of all early morning deliveries. Also be able to undertake a varied list of food preparation for the kitchen on a daily basis and take full responsibility and accountability for the Breakfast Shift and ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented.

  • Plans and organises the preparation and cooking of food in a dining or catering establishment.
  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Preparing and cooking food
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
  • May select and train staff
  • May freeze and preserve foods
  • Plans and organises the preparation and cooking of food in a dining or catering establishment.

Requirements

About you | Ko koe tenei

  • The successful candidate must have a certificate at NZQF level 4 or higher, which includes the credit and knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4)
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
  • Ability to run and maintain breakfast service
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Driven with a passion for food and quality produce
  • Creative with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Familiar with Sanitation regulations
  • Positive and flexible approach to work
  • Can work on a rotating roster 7 days a week
  • Candidates must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand to be considered for the role.
