About the role

The Head of Product role supports the design and delivery of ImpactLab’s product roadmap. You will create standardised, repeatable and scalable impact insight for ImpactLab’s customers, domestically and internationally. This involves development of product strategy and project management of core projects. This role is ideally based in either Auckland or Wellington.

Measuring social impact can be difficult, confusing, and expensive. ImpactLab has developed an innovative methodology to bring transparency to social investment, by linking charity data to the best global evidence and publicly available datasets.

ImpactLab is a start-up with ambitious growth plans. We have assembled an exceptional team with backgrounds across government, non-profit, and private sectors in NZ and internationally.

Since Sir Bill English founded the company in 2019, we have worked with 100+ charities including Cure Kids, Auckland City Mission, and Barnardos.

What you'll do

Product management

  • Refine ImpactLab’s product roadmap, including defining key business outcomes for workstreams including, database and reporting development, analytics development, project management systems, customer data capture, and product development for export markets.
  • Build a long term strategic view of the needs of customers and potential value from future products and enhancements.
  • Key product management activities including but not limited to:
    • Competitor analysis including SWOT
    • Market positioning
    • Personas, market testing and feedback
    • Go to market strategy
    • Measurement framework
    • Monetization strategy, including recurring revenue opportunities
  • Mentor and upskill members of the ImpactLab product team.

Project management

  • Manage relationships with our external tech providers and vendors.
  • Project manage and coordinate workstreams supporting delivery and product development.
  • Facilitate platform selection process and implementation of standardised database and reporting.
  • Positively contribute to the ImpactLab brand and culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years product experience in a growth-stage company.
  • Ability to engage and lead in a strategic product focused way, while also willing to get their hands dirty on day-to-day product management activities.
  • Ability to solve problems with teammates who think differently.
  • Deep curiosity.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of social sector customers (NGOs and charities, and philanthropic funders).
  • Enough knowledge of modern cloud tech, data architecture and working with IT architects, developers and designers to hold them to account, but not to instruct them on the minutiae.
  • Understanding of pricing and SaaS delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, including working with a non-technical team.
