About Us

Our story started many lockdowns ago by a team of payments and software specialists looking to take the pain out of payments. Together we've built a new platform that unlocks next generation payment experiences. These include a suite of open APIs that allow other App builders to build on top of Centrapay APIs and create a digital experience for the consumers and vendors.

About the Role

We are looking for an engineering leader to help manage and develop a team of passionate engineers working on providing innovative payment solutions in the real world and in the Metaverse.

Our managers take an active role in creating a productive environment for our engineers; be it through removing blockers and impediments, facilitating cross-team collaboration and understanding, or by aiding the team in helping themselves by constantly improving and refining their working practices. You’ll be responsible for managing a team of distributed team leads and their engineers working across a variety of systems and helping them to perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

People Management

  • 1:1s with 3 Team Leads, growing to 8
  • Manage reporting lines with Team Leads
  • Oversee career ladders, manage progressional and personal development plans

Stakeholder Management

  • Align with the Senior Leadership Team to make sure we’re on the right track
  • Co-ordinate resourcing with Product on projects
  • Work with Futureverse ecosystem peers to help shape leadership processes

Tech Stack

  • Our Web solutions are single page applications using Vue, Tailwind and Cypress
  • Backend is based on NodeJS, DynamoDB, Redis and CucumberJS
  • We use Docker, Kubernetes and AWS to bring our services to life

About the Future

We’re experimenting with ideas and pivoting fast. We are expanding our platform to be better positioned for helping our customers to create innovative new payment experiences.

About You

  • You are an excellent engineer who is keen on shaping technology and culture in a growing team. You are able to identify the gaps, work with peers and stakeholders in face of unknowns. You take initiative to reach out to stakeholders and expose problems and provide possible solutions.
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment and have a track record of technical expertise and management responsibility. The primary goal of this job is to enable every team member to do the best work of their lives.
  • You understand the challenges of an engineer working with a full stack from cloud infrastructure and database to APIs and UIs.
  • You embrace a continuous delivery mindset. You advocate for the benefits of engineers working in small batches and verifying the correctness of their work at each increment. You help engineers with their process improvement.
  • You are comfortable looking after people and mentoring others - You help other leaders grow.
  • You have experience in Leadership roles.
  • You are based in New Zealand.
