Reporting amp; Visualisation Developer

Work with a dynamic, supportive, collaborative team developing health insights

Do you have what it takes to be a health reporting and insights developer supporting health system change?

Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora will together shape the delivery of health service in Aotearoa New Zealand for generations to come and will form the core of a modern and integrated service looking after the needs of our whanau. This change needs data driven and evidence-based decision making across the health system.

Te Whau Ora TAS is looking for a reporting and visualisation developer that can go beyond just preparing and presenting data for reports but can develop and support analytical reporting both in Power BI and other environments, to inform the relevant health care system conversations.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, from senior responsible officers at a national and regional level, to clinicians and others across the system.

We are looking for someone with a proven technical skillset for visualisation development to work collaboratively with others to develop the timely call to inform the relevant healthcare / systems conversation, and who can:

  • establish relationships for the discovery and forming of requirements
  • present data to the appropriate audience that gives understanding and balancing different perspectives.

You will be:

  • adaptable and resilient
  • able to demonstrate a querying and discovery skill set
  • able to link and connect things in a health system construct
  • equipped with extensive work experience in developing Power BI and other visualisations
  • comfortable in presenting information orally and in a written form
  • ideally someone with transferrable experience within the wider integrated healthcare system
  • able to provide support, training and advice around visualisation solutions.

Requirements

Education/qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification preferably in information management / analytics or other relevant discipline. And /or extensive comparable and relevant experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Technical

  • Proven experience working with SQL and Power BI systems, DAX and R
  • Wide ranging knowledge of systems and tools for reporting, Te Whatu Ora uses several different visualisation tools across the health system (Power BI, Qlik, etc).
  • Experience in writing database query scripts, extracting and utilising data for the purposes of reporting
  • Knowledge and understanding of how and when data, analysis and reporting can and should be used to address business needs

General

  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis in the provision of insights and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience in development and maintenance of business intelligence
  • Demonstrated experience of Dashboard design and development
  • Demonstrated Experience in all phases of the business intelligence life cycle, from scoping and planning, requirements gathering, design, testing, go live and production support
  • A genuine commitment to providing quality service to all customers
  • Ability to build effective relationships and partnerships to understand customer needs and ensure these are reflected in outputs delivered by the team
