The Cloudy Bay story is one of adventure. After a single sip in 1983, David Hohnen was captivated by Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. In 1985 David and winemaker Kevin Judd launched Cloudy Bay with a vision for making New Zealand wines of uncompromising quality. It’s been that way ever since.
Reporting to the Technical Viticulturist, Cloudy Bay Vineyards are looking for a Vineyards Technical Assistant who will be responsible for assisting with Cloudy Bay Vineyard’s precision viticulture activities and operational tasks across all CBV vineyards in Marlborough. This role involves a high degree of precision and attention to detail, and a good understanding of vine physiology, phenology and pest and disease threats.
In this role, tasks include, but are not limited to:
- yield estimation tasks, including bunch counts, bunch and berry weights
- leaf and petiole sampling
- pest and disease monitoring
- maturity sampling
- data collection activities
- irrigation system performance monitoring
- assisting with the sampling and data collection
and when required:
- tractor operations
- canopy management, pruning and vine training
- irrigation management; service and maintenance of system
- trellis repairs and maintenance
- harvest roles.
Requirements
In order to be considered for this position, you will have:
- the ability to work in New Zealand and being currently located in New Zealand;
- diploma level in horticulture/agriculture/viticulture (desirable)
- minimum 3 years equivalent vineyard operations experience
- experience in computing, including spreadsheets and data entry
- experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (desirable)
- experience in vineyard or other operational agricultural enterprise (desirable)
