Note: This role is internal, and only open to Developers Institute Learners and Graduates.
Developers Institute is NZQA accredited and focuses on teaching learners how to build products, making them ready for employment. We currently use tools such as Node.js and Express, React, automated testing and Agile amp; DevOps practices. We know there is more to being a software developer than just coding, so we have built a culture where learners operate like they are in a software development team while learning.
What's involved
The Junior Trainer (Teaching Assistant) is primarily responsible for ensuring that new remote learners are supported from their first Client-Side development course. You will accompany your cohort as it progresses through the programme. The Junior Trainer is a learner-facing team member, coaching successful behaviours and talking code.
As a Junior Trainer, you will work closely with a remote classroom of learners over the course of an 8-week cycle. You will be responsible for both the technical competency and entry outcomes of learners who are on track to join the next session of the DI programme. You will support a class of learners and ensure on a day-to-day basis that everyone is learning rapidly and is on track for success.
The role may require participation in internal moderation, and supporting and mentoring learners through their learning journey into employment will also be paramount.
