Requirements

Role amp; Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers, as part of a cross-disciplinary Unreal 5 game development team, at both technical and personal levels
  • Coordinate with design lead and other project leadership to identify team needs, set team goals and feature specifications
  • Develop high-performance, robust, maintainable code in a cross-platform environment as you design and implement: modifications, reorganizations, extensions, and optimizations to existing code base
  • Find your ideal balance of management, delegation, and actual implementation
  • Lay the groundwork and lead the vision for all development systems needed to deliver core game features
  • Determine and define team policy and practice on all technical matters: specs for art and design, code standards, code reviews, performance optimization, etc.
  • Help build the engineering team, including interviewing and hiring engineers
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent within the team
  • Work closely with the entire game team to provide technical, creative, and scheduling feedback
  • Unravel and decipher high-level feature requests into actionable tasks, and delegate to the team effectively

Qualifications

  • 7+ years leadership experience in the AAA, casual or mobile gaming industry
  • Minimum 2 full project cycles of experience managing in a lead capacity, running a large franchise project in the gaming industry
  • Unreal 4+ expertise with applicable knowledge and experience with Unreal 5
  • Excellent skills in C++ programming and object-oriented architecture with the ability to code and architect game systems and tools
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent Math Skills
  • Ability to identify risks early and suggest and execute mitigation strategies
  • Detail-oriented planner
  • Sound technical judgment in estimating task complexity
  • Strong personal communication skills
  • Experience/interest in full stack development, including UI/UX through backend
  • Well versed in games and the ability to articulate what is strong/weak about the design of existing games
