About the Role:

As an Experienced Games User Researcher, you play a key role in creating engaging game experiences by using a range of research methodologies to help us know our audience better.

Ideal candidates have first hand experience of user research. They will be enthusiastic about utilising their knowledge of UX, game design, and psychology to help teams realise their vision for their games and provide players with the intended gameplay experience, while being patient and understanding of the game development process.

Candidates will have excellent communication skills, be comfortable presenting to teams, and working closely with product owners, designers and other stakeholders, showing autonomy and collaboration while being able to take and receive feedback with empathy. Over time, as they gain more experience they will be expected to take on more responsibilities, including mentoring, and will likely progress to become a senior user researcher.

The Experienced Games USer Researcher's responsibilities include:

  • Organise and conduct research studies, including but not limited to live user testing, diary studies and surveys, on a wide variety of titles.
  • Work directly with teams to help them find solutions to user problems.
  • Present research findings to teams and other stakeholders.
  • Help drive the understanding of, and possibilities of, research, within PikPok.
  • Work efficiently and effectively. Working independently when required, but also actively collaborating with others and being willing to mentor junior researchers.

Requirements

  • Degree in psychology, human computer interaction, usability, human factors, or equivalent user research experience.
  • Experience developing, implementing and facilitating user research methods, including surveys and user tests facilitation.
  • Knowledge of statistics and data analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of user interface / UX design techniques and best practices.
  • Experience in the games industry desired, but a good understanding of games and the game development process expected.
  • Creatively minded, with a good understanding of the needs of the player.
  • Good ability to communicate patiently, enthusiastically and effectively with a range of people and disciplines of all ages and levels.
  • Confidence in presenting results to a variety of audiences.
  • An approachable, empathetic and encouraging personality.
  • 4-6 years experience.
