Lead Data Engineer

Job Description
Our Data and Insights practice specialises in business intelligence strategy, consulting and implementation in order to deliver complete, versatile BI/DW solutions allowing customers to make the most of their data.
We are urgently looking for a Lead Data Engineer with extensive Azure experience including Data Lakes, Azure Data Factory and Data Bricks to join this highly collaborative team based in Tauranga and to work on exciting projects. We are also open to considering those seeking a permanent role or contract opportunity.
You will be working closely with our customer, using your extensive experience to analyse, design and develop data and analytics solutions and projects.
The skills and experience required are:
- In-depth hands-on work experience with large-scale implementations of Microsoft Analytics solutions, using SSIS/SSRS/SSAS
- In-depth hands-on work experience with large-scale implementations of Analytics Cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure
- In-depth knowledge of Azure technology stack including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, ADC, Data Lake, Cosmos, Insights, Azure Data Bricks, Azure SQL DW, Azure Synapse Analytics, PowerApps, LogicApps, Azure Data Factory
- Experience implementing DevOps/DataOps solutions is an advantage
- Design and implementation of end-to-end data pipelines in Azure
- Experience with Snowflake is advantageous
- Practical understanding of the various data ingestions options for on premises or external data sources
- In-depth hands-on work experience and knowledge of AWS will be an advantage
- Strong background and experience in all aspects of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence implementations
- Proven experience implementing the Power BI suite of products including data manipulation using Power Query, report and dashboard design
- Experience with other data visualisation tools such as Qlik or Tableau
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to learn new information quickly
- Strong architecture design and modelling, written and oral skills
- Excellent relationship management abilities
- Strong time management and co-ordination skills
- Expert knowledge of MS Office suite (incl. MS Project)
- Focus on delivering high quality solutions that meet customer needs
- Experience with Dimensional modelling, Kimball Design as well as Data Vault design
- Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written (documentation)
- Extensive consulting experience and a high level of commercial awareness
- Good problem solving and relationship management skills
