Data Science Practice Lead

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced people leader to join the Data and Insights Practice to grow and lead the Data Science and Machine Learning team.
As a Data Science Practice Lead, your role will be split between 50% team leadership and 50% as a data science consultant. As a Data Science Team Leader you will grow and lead a team of people who are passionate about data science and machine learning. You will ensure that data science and machine learning is implemented using best practice methodologies and standards, working collaboratively with other Data and Insights project teams to apply new technologies and to develop data-driven solutions for our customers. The second part of your role will be as a consultant who is both a hands-on expert as well as a thought leader in the Data Science field. You will work with customers assisting them in understanding the value of data and the power of Data Science.
We are looking for someone with proven leadership experience and someone that relishes getting their hands dirty
What You Will Be Doing
- Grow and Lead a high performing data science team ensuring that best practice methodologies are implemented
- Be a thought leader and Go-To person for our customers who would like to, or are, implementing data science solutions
- Lead a team of data scientists by coaching, developing, and managing the team to deliver innovative solutions.
- Ensure the members of the data science team are involved and included in data projects to produce valuable data science solutions for our customers
- Being hands-on and working with our customers to implement high quality data science projects that deliver business value
Your ideal background
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Data Science and machine learning, specialising in R and python.
- Experience in growing and leading teams of data scientists
- Proven experience in developing individuals and providing mentorship
- Ability to work with customers at a senior level
