Job Description

As a Graduate Systems Engineer your role will be responsible for maintaining physical hardware, physical or virtual operating system platforms, and to provide support services to maintain the availability and reliability of the organisation’s systems/networks.

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensuring hardware/software applications and network components are operational.
  • Monitoring, tuning and performing trend analysis of the System/Network performance.
  • Contributing to the development of operational procedures and confirming in place documentation for accuracy.
  • Acting on identified security violation events.
  • Maintaining system documentation.
  • Planning, implementing and monitoring backup and recovery of platforms and related components using the agreed backup methodology as required.
  • Inputting to and assisting with BCP and DR processes and documentation where applicable.
  • Initiating and driving service and process improvement.
  • Ensuring supported systems are supported to meet and integrate with organisation requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
  • Performing patching activities in alignment with the customers policy.
  • Taking part in a rostered-on call rota with the team to support the client’s system out of hours.
  • Effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.
