About the Role
The Operations Manager Linux Services NZ is a diverse role and incorporates the inspired leadership of an NZ team of technical support professionals within the Technology Operations domain. In this role, you’ll ensure our contracted deliverables and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are achieved. You’ll be responsible for team utilization and employee engagement and may need to frequently travel within NZ.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the day to day operations and project delivery of our Linux operating system services, ensuring that planning, end-user impact, change management, training, quality management are properly utilised and monitored.
- Establish and maintain Operational Excellence in the following technologies/ areas:
- Linux systems (RedHat, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, SuSe, Centos, IBM-AIX, HP-UX)
- Oracle hypervisor
- IBM iSeries
- Related OS and backup technologies and features
- Build trusted relationships across the customer team; demonstrating understanding of the customers technology landscape, operating model and processes
- Ensure training is provided on any new information management tools that may be introduced
- Ensure all reporting is managed and prepared and proactively report to the General Manager Compute Platforms on issues such as project status, non-delivery, employee performance or non-performance and customer satisfaction.
Your Experience:
The Operations Manager, Linux Services is integral to the success of the Platform Engineering business. As such you will have a solid understanding of operational delivery, be able to take ownership of delivery with a real ‘can do’ approach and have proven ability to manage operational delivery within a complex, dynamic environment.
You’ll have
- Senior level experience in a similar role, within large scale, enterprise level environments
- Solid understanding of Linux platforms
- Clear communications and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to influence and manage outcomes
- Relationship building and management skills (client, supplier, internal)
- Service management (ITIL)
- Cost/ financial management experience
