Job Description

  • Develop visual solutions for our collectibles, consumer products and Masterbrand
  • Create marketing material and packaging to showcase film, video games and TV related products
  • Part-time 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Weta Workshop’s award-winning concept design and manufacturing facility has been making cool stuff for over 30 years, right here in Miramar, Wellington

Applying our innovative artistry to the worlds creative industries we take on projects of any size, scope, or scale, from the earliest stages of creative development through to manufacture and delivery all over the world.

We’re looking for a Graphic Designer to assist in developing visual solutions for Weta Workshop’s collectibles and consumer products range as well as our Masterbrand.

You’ll create a range of marketing material and packaging to showcase film, video games and T.V. related retail products using existing templates and assets (vinyl figures, swing tags, EDM tiles, polystone statues, promotional marketing content for social media).

What will you be doing?

  • Creating effective on brand, on brief design solutions
  • Collaborate with the wider team to create and finalise design solutions
  • Receiving and interpreting briefs to create visual marketing solutions
  • Clearly sharing the reasoning behind your concepts and thinking
  • Listening to feedback and refining your ideas
  • Providing finished files for print and screen
  • Pre-press file setup and quality control
  • Incorporating Licensee style guides into the design process ensuring that both Weta Workshop and the Licensee’s requirements are met

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite and visual communication skills
  • Solid layout, typography skills, and a sharp attention to detail
  • An understanding of print preparation
  • Ability to concept, develop and create a wide variety of creative assets (print, web, advertising, collateral, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of art/design fundamentals (space, form, light, surface, line, colour)
  • Excellent research, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to visually interpret other people's ideas

Experience:

  • Design experience across multiple areas including print and web
  • 2+ years working in a studio or print environment
  • Tertiary qualification in Design

Ideally, you’ll have a keen interest in pop-culture, film and gaming and will be looking to grow your technical skills and gain industry experience in marketing and packaging design.

Hours are part-time 25 hours per week with the ability to work additional hours at times.
