Requirements

Kaupapa The project

Changing Minds has been contracted by the Ministry of Health to lead and manage the co-design and implementation of an Auckland Peer Workforce Pilot within Gambling Harm and Prevention until June 2023. This service comprises of three components

· Leading and managing the co-design and implementation of an Auckland-based peer workforce development service alongside communities, Whanau and our external co-design partners.

· Recruitment, deployment (supervised placement) and professional development of peer workers.

· Relationship engagement with Kaupapa Maori and Pacific Peer Support Placement Service Providers, and whanau whaiora of those services

· Development of the Preventing and Minimising Gambling Harm (PMGH) peer workforce model.

He kai kei ou ringa Your skills and potential

Matau a-wheako - You will be someone with personal lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction and/or gambling harm and possess the confidence to use and tell your own story safely for the purposes of connection and education. You will Hold a Level 4 NZQA qualification with relevance to Peer Support as listed on the careerforce website or an equivalent. Highly desired is a Mental Health Cert L4 or r or equivalent or higher.

Kia u ki te Tiriti o Waitangi You will be willing and committed to understanding and embracing your own connection to te Tiriti O Waitangi and able to demonstrate how that supports your mahi.

Mahi tahi Being a whanau player is crucial; we work as one team, with the community, for the people. This position will be part of Changing Minds Leadership, supporting and developing Maori and Pacific Peers specifically, so a commitment to cultural supervision and connection is essential.

Arotahi ki te kaupapa - Strong, project management skills, knowledge and experience annual and strategic planning, reporting writing and logistics. You will be a strategic thinker with ideas or experience in supporting and developing others.

Whanaungatanga exceptional peer leadership, relationship management and interpersonal skills and experience to guide, coach and supervise Peer Support Workers, ensure they have access to Cultural Support and are supported to develop professionally. Exceptional Relationship building skills to form and maintain strong relationships with placement organisations, expert advisors and the Mental Health and Addictions Sector.
