About the role
We’re looking for a people-focused Director of Data Science to join our Customer Success team. There is an increasing importance of data science in our decision science strategy, and this newly created opportunity plays a key role in helping us transform Montoux’s data science capability.
Specifically, you will
- Develop out our data science roadmap
- Provide technical leadership in the data science space to the team and wider Montoux
- Lead and enhance our internal data science tooling
- Scope and deliver customer projects
- Develop and coach a small team of customer facing data scientists
Requirements
What you will bring
Some essentials:
- Experience of building and leading high-performing data science teams
- A strong customer focus and commitment to customer delivery
- Proven experience presenting results to customers (leading or in a team)
- Intermediate or higher experience using python, experience with R would also be valuable
- Experience with git (or other version control)
- Experience in data cleaning or ETL techniques - via Python Pandas/Dask or other forms (PySpark)
- Ability to undertake data preparation and modeling
- Experience with a range of other data science methods such as neural networks, decision trees, xgboost etc
- Comfortable working in a small, flat, dynamic environment with a collaborative and open working style
- An open collaborative approach to work, readily seeking help from colleagues and supporting them when needed
- Enthusiasm or experience for data science best practices - continuous integration, pipelines, code architecture
- The ability to translate both product and services projects into delivery roadmaps, feeding into sprint planning and prioritisation
- To be eligible for this job you will need to hold an existing New Zealand working visa, or be a New Zealand resident or citizen. Due to the visa suspensions currently in place by Immigration NZ we are unable to consider candidates who are not eligible to work in New Zealand
Some nice to haves:
- Experience in building repeatable data science solutions
- Experience working with AWS tools (or another cloud provider)
- Any machine learning experience is a bonus (AWS Sagemaker, Tensorflow, XGBoost, etc.)
- Any big data / distributed computation (ie. Spark, Hadoop, Athena, data lakes, etc.)is also a bonus
