Job Description

Role specification

The role is that of Financial Accountant, reporting to the Global Financial Controller. One part time role will assist, who currently looks after administration and accounts receivable/payable input.

The successful candidate will have good technical accounting knowledge, is ambitious and would like to enhance their knowledge within the SaaS space. This is a new role, slotting in below the existing Global Financial Controller who has worked with us since 2016 and is stepping up from their current financial accountant duties, so there will be guidance in your new role. Ultimately, you will be responsible for managing and preparing the day-to-day finance operations and monthly/annual reporting of the Fuel50 Group, working closely with the Global Financial Controller.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute on the daily operations of the finance and accounting department
  • Perform bank reconciliations and take ownership of the financial system (Xero)
  • Prepare payroll for each country as required
  • Ensure payables are entered and customers are billed in a timely manner by the Finance and Administration Manager
  • Manage, and be actively involved, in the payment of creditors and collections from debtors
  • Manage payment of all expenses using EXPENSIFY, or other expense management software as required
  • Deliver the preparation of all monthly financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
  • Manage the timely financial consolidation and reporting process for FUEL50 across the NZ, Australian, US and Europe operations
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
  • Prepare and manage tax reporting (e.g. income tax, payroll tax, GST/VAT/Sales tax) in the various countries Fuel50 operate in
  • Serve as government liaison relative to financial issues
  • Prepare for and assist in financial audits, including annual account preparation, and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
  • Day to day management of the annual audit
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements

International Operations

  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets for FUEL50 operational centres and country offices
  • Research and provide assistance with setting up operations in new jurisdictions
  • Ensure FUEL50 is tax compliant in all the geographical locations it works in

Financial Modelling

  • Enhance, maintain and communicate a consolidated financial model for FUEL50’s global operations
  • Undertake financial modelling as requested

Treasury

  • Manage currency exchange and cash flow to minimise fluctuation risk
  • Ensure basic bank covenants are met

Capital Raising

  • Assist with the preparation of information for capital raising
  • Assist with the management of the capital raise process

External Communications

  • Liaise with external service providers including, but not limited to, auditors, tax advisors, investment bankers, lawyers, payroll providers and consultants
  • Assist in the ESOP scheme

Due Diligence

  • In the event of future fund-raising or a possible acquisition, work with the Mamp;A team to complete due diligence on potential global acquisitions

Additional Responsibilities

  • Represent the company externally to government agencies, auditors, and the general public
  • Train and supervise finance department staff
  • Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff

Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Degree in Finance amp; Accounting, and CA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in SaaS metrics reporting requirements
  • At least 3 years experience in a junior or mid finance or accounting position, preferably with accounting experience at a Big Four firm, ideally with some offshore accounting experience
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, both U.S. GAAP and IFRS
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, Xero, Expensify, Smart Payroll, and TriNet preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations in the US, UK, Australia and NZ
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects
  • Ability to perform to a high level and the deliver quality reporting within tight timeframes
