Job Description

Our Data and Insights practice specialises in business intelligence strategy, consulting and large scale implementations in order to deliver complete, versatile data and analytics solutions allowing customers to leverage the value of their data

We are now looking for an experienced Data Governance Consultant to join this high performing team in our Auckland or Wellington office.

The purpose of this key role is to develop and operate the underlying processes and standards required for our customers’ Data Governance functions. This includes Master and Reference Data, Business Glossary, Data Lineage, and Critical Data Elements.

  • Much of this will involve working very closely with our customers assisting them to establish and run Data Governance Groups, working with key stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide general Data Governance support
  • Work with Initiative Owners to ensure they are adhering to the Data Governance Principles and following processes and standards. Provide supporting material.
  • Develop Data Governance related standards, procedures and guidelines to support application of the Data Governance Principles.
  • Ensure that all processes, procedures, issues and outcomes relating to Master and Reference data, Data Security, Business Glossary and Data Lineage, are appropriately documented and controlled.
  • Develop data strategies for future roadmaps.

Skills and experience:

  • 4+ years of demonstrable experience in Data Management
  • Demonstrated ability in the development and maintenance of controlled data environments. Knowledge of data risk and data controls
  • Knowledge of data related regulatory requirements (eg NZ Privacy Law, GDPR) and emerging trends and issues
  • Strong understanding of how data connects and moves through various environments
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology, science, or related discipline
  • Knowledge of data quality measurement, reporting and remediation is an advantage.
  • Power BI experience would be an advantage
  • Experience with Talend, Informatica or Alation is preferred
  • Able to plan, prioritise, execute and manage tasks independently
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the business. This should include the ability to communicate with, consult and advise senior management
  • Experience in designing, implementing and delivering (including presenting) training and awareness programs
  • Exceptional documentation skills, with the ability to convey complex material as clearly as possible. This would ideally include experience in developing data policy related documentation
  • Agile mindset adaptable to change, collaboration, maintains focus on continuous improvement, and continuous delivery of business and customer value.
