About the role
Located on Auckland’s North Shore and reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Delivery Manager, this role will be a senior member of our mechanical engineering team, and also technically lead key multi-discipline product initiatives as required.
Working with the broader engineering team, other product delivery "mini business units" and other Functional Managers, as the Mechanical Engineer Lead you will act as the final arbiter for product technical decision making, application of design best practice, and interpretation of standards for their portfolio. As a senior member of our mechanical engineering team, you will help drive mechanical engineering initiatives and continual improvement to our team processes and practices including mentoring of junior team members as required. About your experience
To be successful in this role you will have held senior positions in mechanical design and manufacturing leadership roles with the following experience:
- 10+ years’ experience in a senior engineering leadership role
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Experience in leading, motivating and inspiring a team of engineers
- Solid understanding of modern production and assembly techniques
- Solid understanding of design and manufacture of components such as: plastic injection molding, sheet metal forming/bending, and die castings and a reasonable awareness of implications to electrical components, PCB's, IC's and RF technologies etc.
- CAD software experience a necessity - ideally Solidworks
- Solid understanding of design-to-cost methodologies
- A demonstratable track record outsourcing to ODM or CM partners.
- In-depth experience working with Asian vendors on tooling and parts production
- Problem solving and analysis
- Excellent communication both verbal and written
- Experience with both in house teams and outsourced development models
- No restrictions to travel
