Twinkl New Zealand are on the lookout for a Product Owner for the New Zealand Classic product line.
As Product Owner, you will be responsible for driving forward the vision and aims of our established Classic resource collection along with creating innovative and exciting materials which are at the forefront of the education market. You will work closely with the product development team to create the right resources at the right time to support the needs of Kiwi teachers.
You will carry out the role whilst communicating extensively with key stakeholders within and outside the business to achieve the company's core values and focus.
This exciting and varied role will give you the opportunity to play a key role in the development of the most popular teaching materials in New Zealand and help to meet the needs of thousands of educators. This is a great role for someone who is wanting to move from a teaching role into a corporate career, whilst still actively working to improve the educational experience of Kiwi children.
Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:
Developing new resource concepts for the production team to produce by:
analysing customer data and feedback to input into the ideation process
leading regular meetings with the production team to collaborate on new resource ideas
researching emerging trends in education and conducting competitor analysis
working with third-party organisations to collaborate on new content
Ensuring production priorities are clearly communicated and that the project management board is updated to reflect this
Motivating team members and communicating the product vision through various channels
Liaising with the marketing team to ensure new content is marketed effectively and to keep them abreast with upcoming content releases
Creating a product strategy and reporting to stakeholders on progress against this
Collaborating with other Product Owners, customer-facing teams and key areas of the business
Working closely with the New Zealand Country Manager and supporting them with day to day duties
Responding to customer resource requests and managing the production of these, ensuring the customer service team has the information they need in order to respond promptly
Identifying the need for new team members and working with the recruitment team to hire them
As Product Owner, you will not be directly line managing any team members but you will be jointly responsible in supporting them to achieve their production goals.
Requirements
To succeed in the role, you will:
Have in-depth knowledge of the needs of primary school teachers and emerging educational trends in New Zealand
Be able to provide evidence of your organisational abilities, and ideally, ability to manage a project from concept through to launch
Be willing to commit to attending meetings out of usual working hours - usually two evenings per week (Tuesday amp; Thursday) and occasionally the additional meeting early morning or evening
Be a self-starter with the motivation and autonomy to manage your own workload
Be able to communicate with colleagues and our external partners effectively
Have analytical and problem-solving skills to make data-driven decisions
In this role, you will learn:
How to deliver a project using Agile Methodology and Jira software
Leadership skills, specifically when working with a remote based team
The ins-and-outs of a global digital publishing company
How to use Tableau to access and review various data views
Stakeholder management
You’ll work with:
Imogen - New Zealand Country Manager. Based out of Christchurch, Imogen will be your line manager and regular point of contact.
Catriona - UK based, Cat is the Operations Assistant who oversees the production process and ensures the production team have everything they need to meet their goals
Amber - Mosgiel based, Amber is the NZ Marketing Assistant
The New Zealand production team comprised of:
13 New Zealand based content writers and editors, with 4+ more joining over the coming months
6 UK based designers and illustrators
