Foodstuffs is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated organisation, made up of two regional co-operatives and a national ‘centre of excellence’ which is where this role sits. Join Foodstuffs in this newly created Public Policy Manager role reporting into our GM of Government Relations. You'll be able to utilise your general knowledge of public policy work to translate government policy proposals into business-friendly language, assess the implications for our business, and, utilising your strong written communications skills, complete written submissions for us.What will I be doing?· Monitoring the government’s wider public policy programmes, assess relevancy to Foodstuffs operations, and facilitate appropriate responses, including participation in public consultation.· Providing insights and strategic advice to Foodstuffs Leadership on public policy issues, to assist management decision-making on policy positions. Ensuring government understands Foodstuffs contribution to the economy, its views on public policy proposals, and the potential business impacts· Proactively manage Foodstuffs relationship with relevant central government agenciesWhat experience do I need?· A thorough understanding of public policy processes.· The intellect and experience to understand the economics and regulatory complexity of Foodstuffs business and provide sound advice, using analysis, knowledge, and good judgment· The ability to interpret complex legislation and regulations and be able to explain to others, in layman’s terms, how the business will be impacted.· Demonstrated experience of developing and maintaining collaborative stakeholder partnerships and relationships.· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including experience writing cogent submissions.
