About the role

Datacom provides a range of mobile device management services across a broad set of business verticals including: Remote Workers, Field Technician, Transportation / Logistics, and Warehousing / Retail. Typically these customers use barcode scanners, mobile phones, and/or tablets to perform critical functions for the business eg a mobile mortgage manager, truck/courier driver, store person, compliance manager. If their device stops, or is compromised, then productivity is severely impacted, and in many cases the person simply cannot do their job. The goal of this Mobile Device Management Service is therefore to deliver hassle free motoring for all the people relying on us.

The primary objectives and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Help drive the performance of the team and the solutions provided to our customers
  • Act as a key technical lead within the team, imparting knowledge so the Mobile Device Management team is equally capable of supporting our MDM customers
  • Being our evangelist, positioning Datacom in the centre of this specialist market, securing new customers, and looking for new business opportunities.
  • Research and be at the forefront of the mobile device / hand-held scanner industry
  • Use your up-to-date industry knowledge to establish standards in relation to the set-up and service delivery for each of the mobile device types and operating systems to ensure Datacom meets agreed/contracted service levels
  • Build images and plan for patching/maintenance programmes for our customer devices and environment(s).

What you’ll bring

  • A passion for delivering reliable solutions and services that make a difference to the individuals who you are supporting.
  • Solid, and up to date industry knowledge of mobile devices / mobile OS / trends / mobile device management solutions.
  • gt; 5 years experience in designing, scripting, imaging and rolling-out mobile device management solutions and supporting mobile devices.
  • Solid experience with Mobile Device Management software such as SOTI Mobi Control, Microsoft Intune, VMWare WorkSpace ONE, etc.
  • Client engagement, requirements gathering, expectation setting and solution design
  • Broad technical knowledge eg Server OS, SQL, Networking across WiFi, WANs, amp; LANs
  • Barcode/QR code construct, uses, readability by different mobile devices.
  • Ability to work independently, having excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, and oversee multiple active engagements, whilst at the same time framing up the next engagements.
  • Team player, who enjoys working collaboratively and generally sharing your knowledge to lift the capability of the entire team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • An ability to anticipate and proactively handle issues.


Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the long-term technical roadmap required to keep our services relevant and class leading. Making sure that the technical vision aligns with the strategic direction and is based on customer expectations and market trends.
  • Creating and maintaining automation frameworks which can easily be used by the rest of the mobile device team.
  • Make significant design and technology decisions in relation to solution design and our on-going support services.
  • Hands-on technical work to investigate and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Hands-on technical work to build, roll-out, and maintain efficient and effective solutions.
  • Using your broad expertise to help Datacom and our customers.
