How you’ll make an impactAs product owner for the Developer Platform you will be working with a talented development team and responsible for executing on the product vision and roadmap for our API gateway. This team help internal and external developers access Xero’s public API, manage authentication, authorisation, web hooks and SSO infrastructure.
You will be at the heart of helping product teams at Xero expose APIs that solve real world customer problems and help to increase the value proposition of Xero as a whole. You will also be a key internal evangelist of the public API and value champion.
Success looks likeProduct Owners should have a strong understanding of the requirements of the business and be able to make clear decisions on prioritisation, minimum viable product and help the team plan and operate accordingly.
What you’ll do- Work with a development team who will look to you for guidance and support every day to build the best public API gateway that internal and external developers will love to use.- Team up with our Product Managers and architects on realising the vision for the platform- Understand 3rd party developers’ pain points and prioritise what’s needed to be addressed and when.- Work with the development team to ensure the solutions being developed are delivered on time and realise the vision, roadmap and the customer value it was intended to.- Define a product backlog that focuses on achieving agreed product initiatives from the roadmap, and you will be able to guide and focus the delivery team on what problems need to be solved as priorities and why.- Work with product managers to help define the product roadmap and agree the key goals, success measures and timeframes. You’ll discuss potential impacts with the product manager and be aligned on what’s needed and what you’re working towards.- Work closely with other teams from the wider business, such as Product, Partner and Business Platform to ensure you can effectively take your solutions to market.- Liaise with CRM, Integration and Data teams, to coordinate any internal/business systems and reporting development.- Represent Xero’s product and be able to present at internal and external events or community forums.
Key performance indicators- New features, enhancements and fixes are deployed to production regularly and with as few bugs/issues as possible. Product Owners should endeavour to release features as soon as they are ready, and practice continuous delivery methodology.- Xero API features and improvements are in line with Xero’s overall strategy.- User feedback remains positive about new features and improvements. - Developer product attach rate i.e. 3rd party developers are using the APIs that your team expose- App and developer partner satisfaction (NPS) score
