Come and join us at Xero! Due to ongoing growth, we are looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead our Standards amp; Education group, part of the wider Engineering domain, based in Wellington.

Standards amp; Education is a team focused on making world-class engineering at Xero easy. We enable engineering teams through guidance and education, providing the means for continuous improvements of team process and practice and engineer's skills and knowledge!
What’s the role?
As a Development Manager, you will be responsible for the People Leads and Lead Engineers who work across the Standards amp; Education domain. As a leader of leaders, you’ll foster a positive team culture and provide direction for technical practices and standards. Your job is to build a cohesive thought-leading engineering community that rapidly delivers value to our customers and continually improves. By doing so you’ll contribute to Xero achieving its goals.
You'll lead and manage teams that solve engineering problems and improve Xero’s capability to deliver software to our customers. You will be enabled to seek clarity with technical complexities and be able to demonstrate smart ways to simplify. You’ll look to enable teams to help make data-driven decisions that will release value early to solve Xero customers' problems more effectively.What you'll bring with you:

• You’ll have a strong leadership background and experience in building high-performing engineering teams
• Experience working on software development projects at scale using modern software development practices
• Coaching and mentoring experience
• A growth mindset - you understand that competency is not fixed but is enhanced through dedication and hard work
• Proven ability to navigate areas of conflict in an open, positive and proactive way
• You’re fine with uncertainty and change and bring clarity amongst it.
• #ownership and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to live our Xero vision and values, translating them into day-to-day activities and behaviours, with them at the heart of your decision-making
