Position:Technical Consultant (Unix)

Datacom Location:Wellington, NZ

About the Role (Your Why)

Our office for this role is based in Wellington. It would suit someone who has in-depth knowledge of UNIX/LINUX Systems, an analytical approach to problem solving and has experience working across multiple environments. A team player that looks for the best solution to support our clients.

** NOTE: Due to customer security requirements, this role is open to NZ Residents who have lived in NZ for the last 5 years and Citizens only **

What You’ll Do

    • Design, build and implement UNIX systems to agreed specifications.
    • Perform business/technical requirements gathering and produce documentation.
    • Lead projects or transitions as Technical Lead.
    • Mentor and coach UNIX Engineers and/or Administrators.
    • Present options and solutions, not problems.
    • Independently manage small to medium-sized projects with minimal guidance.
    • Support the on-going operation of UNIX systems for Datacom and their customers

What You’ll Bring

    • Specific knowledge of RedHat Systems.
    • Additional knowledge of Unix / Linux - Solaris, AIX, Oracle Linux etc.
    • Knowledge and experience with Ansible automation.
    • Passionate about Automation and public cloud technologies.
    • Experience working in an Agile environment.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work directly with our clients.
    • A real eye for detail.
    • An analytical approach to problem solving and the patience to work through a range of queries.
    • A "can-do" attitude and enthusiastic approach.
    • Knowledge and experience with BMC control-M would be beneficial.
    • Openshift and Containerisation knowledge and skills.
