About The Role - Te mahi
We are seeking a Demi Chef to join our friendly team in our busy kitchen based at Novotel Christchurch Airport Hotel. You must have high standards in food and cooking techniques to support our Head Chef in a busy restaurant with breakfast, lunch, and dinner services and conferencing events. A knack for innovation is welcomed in this role.
This full-time permanent role is based at Novotel Christchurch Airport.
Responsibilities | Nga Haepapa
- Food preparation and production
- Ensuring food produced is in line with kitchen recipes and standards in preparation, presentation and cooking techniques
- Control wastage costs by following efficient preparation methods
- Ensuring all food is stored and handled as per food health and hygiene regulations
- Ensure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times
- Following the guidance of Senior chefs.
- Exceed guest expectations, enabling the Food amp; Beverage operation of the hotel to be recognised as a purveyor of consistent, quality and value for money cuisine
Requirements
About You | Ko Koe Tenei
- Commit to minimum of 20 hours per week
- Previous experience as a Demi Chef in a busy a la carte operation
- Flexible to work rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays.
- Open communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- An engaging personality with the skills to interact with our guests
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Knowledge of cooking trends and best practices
- Familiarity with Food hygiene and sanitation regulations
- Qualified culinary degree/certificate - Preferred, but not essential
- Current rights to work within NZ essentia
