ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Operations Manager - Construction, your role encompasses several key responsibilities. You will be tasked with ensuring the successful management of operations for assigned projects. Additionally, you will oversee key accounts and collaborate closely with the Regional Manager. Together, you will identify prospects and undertake necessary market development, pursuit, and capture activities. Moreover, your role will involve providing estimating support to secure the pipeline for the region.

DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Development:

  • Act as an ambassador for Brosnan, maintaining relationships with existing clients and key accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager to establish and nurture relationships with prospective customers.
  • Drive the vision, values, and purpose of Brosnan in the region.

Pursuit and Capture:

  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager to validate leads through market research and customer engagement.
  • Strive to position Brosnan as the contractor of choice by actively participating in the Pursuit and Capture process.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of lead progress through the preconstruction lifecycle.

Sales:

  • Support the Regional Manager in maintaining an up-to-date forecast of secured and unsecured projects.
  • Proactively follow up on pending projects and oversee post-tender negotiations.

Estimating:

  • Engage fully with the Preconstruction team for prospective projects, offering insights on subcontractors, contract conditions, non-price attributes, and other relevant factors
  • Work closely with the Regional Manager to determine on-site and off-site overheads and profit margins, ensuring accurate project submissions.

Operations People Management:

  • Foster an inspiring team environment, assign teams to projects, and contribute to workforce planning.
  • Take the lead in recruitment efforts for necessary roles and contribute to onboarding processes.
  • Oversee the onboarding for direct reports and establish onboarding programs for indirect reports.

Operations Project Delivery:

  • Oversee and manage all assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on time, meet specifications, and comply with the budget.
  • Take the lead in establishing projects, defining roles and responsibilities, and setting performance targets.
  • Support project teams in achieving fiscal targets, managing risks, and ensuring adherence to contracts and timelines.
  • Provide feedback and chair project reviews, acting as a point of escalation for unresolved issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in operations management, or similar roles, within the construction industry
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional operational and commercial teams
  • Sound knowledge of construction sequence and method
  • Strong experience with MS Projects software
  • Deep understanding of construction contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferably holds a Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
