Hiku
The name comes from the Maori word for ‘whale tail’ and is inspired by Kaikoura’s most iconic attraction. It is also influenced by the strong historic and modern culture and heritage of the area. We celebrate this and show off what Kaikoura is all about - kai moana, fresh produce, marine life, and dramatic sea and mountain scapes.
Sudima Kaikoura is a new 4.5-star hotel on the esplanade of Kaikoura's waterfront, conveniently located at the end of the town centre. The hotel has spectacular 360 views of the seaward Kaikoura mountain range, waterfront and peninsula with a high quality fit-out, 120 well-appointed rooms, restaurant, bar, conference facilities and infinity pool.
The Role | Te Mahi
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef at Hiku, our new restaurant at Sudima Kaikoura. We are looking for experience or a willingness to step up, you'll have creative skills and a desire to innovate and ensure consistent quality food. We value working together as one and all contributing to team results. The Hiku kitchen team will offer our guests room service, an a la carte restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and conference and events catering.
Responsibilities | Nga haepapa
- Preparation and cooking of meals
- Supporting with kitchen services and cleaning
- Following the guidance of the Senior chefs
- Follow and enforce strict health and hygiene standards
Requirements
- Planning and organizing skills and an ability to work individually and in a team
- Ability to multi-task, show flexibility and meet deadlines, work under pressure.
- Flexible to work rostered shifts
- Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
- Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
- Excellent time management abilities
- Understanding of Hamp;S legislation and strict hygiene standards
- Valid Right to Work in NZ
