About The Role - Te mahi

An exciting fulltime opportunity waits for a chef at our Okareka Restaurant within the Sudima Rotorua Hotel.

As its name suggests, Okareka Restaurant and Bar overlooks the water and is an integral part of the hotel. Our talented chefs pride themselves on taking a fresh approach to fine dining and first-class service. They’re renowned for giving a special ‘Kiwi’ twist to dishes using a unique combination of local ingredients and premium produce.

This full-time role based at Sudima Rotorua Hotel, paying $29.25 - $31.15 per hour, weekend and evening availability required.

Responsibilities | Nga haepapa

  • Plans and organises the preparation and cooking of food in our establishment.
  • planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
  • demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • preparing and cooking food
  • explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
  • may select and train staff
  • may freeze and preserve foods

Requirements

About you | Ko koe tenei

  • The successful candidate must have a certificate at NZQF level 4 or higher, which includes the credit and knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4)
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
  • 1 years proven experience as Chef in a medium to large restaurant
  • Expert in product quality and presentation skills
  • Willing to learn and grow, some knowledge of Health and Safety (training provided)
  • Willing to work on a rotating roster
