The Cloudy Bay story is one of adventure. After a single sip in 1983, David Hohnen was captivated by Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. In 1985 David and winemaker Kevin Judd launched Cloudy Bay with a vision for making New Zealand wines of uncompromising quality. It’s been that way ever since.
Reporting to the Cellar Door Manager, we are looking for a Cellar Door Host to work with the hospitality team to embody the Cloudy Bay brand and deliver a high-standard experience to all visitors of the Cellar Door. Within the Hospitality team, this position aims to generate sales of Cloudy Bay wines, food, and merchandise.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering exceptional customer service to Jack’s Raw Bar, the tasting room and retail area at all times
- Assisting the Cellar Door Manager with the delivery of all types of hosting and tastings
- Processing sales of wine, food produce and merchandise through point of sale
- Assisting with guided tastings at the tasting room whilst demonstrating your in-depth knowledge of the Cloudy Bay wines
- Confidently make recommendations, upsell wines, all menu offerings, and make informed suggestions for food-wine matches
- Ensuring the tasting room is always presentable and well stocked
- Conduct accurate physical stock takes
- Deliver a high standard of food and wine service
Requirements
In order to succeed in this position, you will have:
- Past Hospitality and/or Cellar Door Experience
- Passion for Customer Service friendly and focused on continually exceeding customer expectations
- Sales orientation - be able to convert positive experiences into sales of Cloudy Bay wines, food and merchandise
- Duty Manager qualification, highly appreciated
- Excellent communication skills and a ‘Can do’ attitude with an attention to details
- Ability to work cooperatively and positively in a team environment
- Flexible able to work at weekends and holidays and varying shift lengths.
- Good understanding of wine making and viticulture practices
- Physically fit as the job involves standing and lifting
- Computer proficient
