Job Description

Working closely with the Management Accountant, you will be tasked with ensuring the accounts are up to date, month-end is completed accurately and on time and the SOX control environment is operating effectively.

The main responsibilities will revolve around accounting for all Payroll and Human Resources transactions, and other ad hoc accounting transactions.

We are seeking an experienced engaging, organised and analytical individual with advanced written and verbal communication skills who can:

  • Account for payroll expenses, payroll assets, and liabilities. Including but not limited to Weekly wages, fortnightly wages, monthly salaries, bonuses, commissions, capitalised commissions, worker's compensation, annual leave, recruitment, pre-employment costs, ACC, PAYE, medical aid, and other payroll taxes.
  • Account for other expenses as allocated by the Management Accountant Manager, these include but are not limited to Subcontractor cost, marketing cost, and related prepayments, postage and delivery charges, electricity costs, and other accruals.
  • Monthly Preparation and completion of allocated Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare or review payroll-related information, such as Tech Bonus and sent to Payroll, Sales commission sent to Payroll, Quarterly review of National Accounts Commission,
  • Calculation and submission of Workers' Compensation to various states.
  • Where needed, assist the financial accountant with info relating to HR compliance and tax compliance.
  • Comply with SOX controls for Australia and KFC (Key Financial Controls) for Australia and New Zealand and where needed, assist with supplying and communicating information to Internal and External auditors.
  • Being an integral part of month-end processing, the candidate needs to ensure that all accounting work is accurately completed before the end of business on Work Day 2.

To be successful in this role, you will require a highly collaborative approach with a detailed understanding of accounting and attention to detail.

The successful applicant will be a Degree qualified in Bachelor of Accounting (Major in accounting) or commerce, or similar qualification with a minimum of 5 years experience in Accounting amp; finance and must be studying towards a CPA/CA/CIMA. Would suit a Big 4 first mover

In addition, you will need to have:

  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and, knowledge of financial and accounting systems
  • Experience in a strong control environment preferably with some exposure to SOX
  • Must have a detailed understanding and experience in using financial systems ERP System: MS NAV, Forecast/Budget/Reporting
  • Experience in dealing with large volumes and strict deadlines
  • Advance level of experience in MS Excel and Google Sheets and any experience in BI reporting tools a benefit
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • A high level of intelligence and creativity in problem-solving
  • Strong organisational skills and is deadline oriented
