About The Role - Te mahi

Exciting full-time opportunity for an experienced Restaurant and Bar Manager at Hiku Kaikoura, a brand new stylish waterfront restaurant, bar and conference facility.

We are looking for someone with energy, drive and personality to lead and inspire the food and beverage team in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

This is a hands on leadership role that requires the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst leading a busy food and beverage team to ensure the restaurant delivers great customer dining experiences. You will run a well organized service team, and be fully conversant with Sale of Liquor responsibilities. We appreciate and value every one of our team members, and the person in this position will demonstrate true leadership skills by encouraging and supporting the team in day to day operation.

Responsibilities | Nga haepapa

  • Management and leadership of the food amp; beverage service outlets including the restaurant, bar and conference.
  • Lead and develop the team in service standards, creating a positive and enjoyable team environment
  • Managing conferencing and events
  • Ensure all team members deliver a high level of service at all times
  • Ordering of beverage and other stock; maintaining a sound knowledge for purchasing levels and stock control
  • Be pro-active in controlling wage costs, being fully aware of forecasted business and targeted profitability whilst maintaining quality and service standards
  • Uphold Host Responsibility and Duty Managers Licence
  • Ensuring highest possible standard of hygiene

Requirements

About you | Ko koe tenei

  • Minimum of 3-5 years food and beverage service management in modern, successful restaurants and bars
  • Business savvy; understanding current restaurant and market trends
  • Experienced bartender and barista, ideally with excellent knowledge of local wines, beers and cocktail preparation
  • Event and conference management exposure
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • A solid understanding of managing costs
  • Current General Managers Certificate
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail; quality service delivery
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team, embracing a team spirit
  • Experience problem solving and responding customer enquiries and complaints
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Valid working rights to work in NZ
