Reporting to the Head of legal and general counsel, you will be partner with stakeholders across the business to deliver Serko’s strategic objectives and provide pragmatic and timely advice and guidance on legal, risk and compliance issues.
Requirements
We're looking for a talented senior Legal Counsel to join our team where you will partner with people across Serko to deliver our strategic objectives, provide pragmatic legal advice and support day-to-day legal tasks.
What you'll be doing
- Providing legal guidance on a broad range of legal issues associated with the operation of Serko’s business as it expands globally, including:
- Supporting the Executive and Management team to identify and mitigate risks associated with offering Serko’s travel and expense management solutions in new markets;
- Partnering with the Business Development, Sales, Account Management and Commercial teams in Auckland, Sydney and New York on responses to tenders, preparing and negotiating a wide range of contracts including confidentiality agreements, customer agreements, variation and termination agreements;
- Partnering with the Product and Commercial teams to negotiate agreements for third party features, functionality and content for Serko’s online booking tool for corporate travel; and
- Partnering with the Finance, PPC (People, Performance and Culture), Security and
- Technology teams to source products and services from trusted partners, suppliers and service providers for Serko’s business operations.
- Advising teams across the business on local and international data protection and cookie laws (including GDPR, California Consumer Privacy Act, Privacy Acts in Australia and New Zealand);
- Partnering the Product and Design teams to ensure that Serko’s technology solutions comply with regulatory requirements; and
- Collaborating with the Marketing team to ensure that marketing and promotional materials comply with applicable laws.
What you'll bring to the team
Essential:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, with a collaborative and can do attitude.
Desirable:
- 7 + years’ post-admission experience.
- Inhouse or secondment experience.
- Experience in corporate and commercial law.
- Experience in privacy law.
- Experience in technology, particularly travel or cloud-based technology.
- International legal and data protection experience.
