Job Description

We are looking for Vineyard Technicians to join our Vineyards Team for a minimum of 40 hours per week. You will report to our Vineyard Managers and will be responsible for assisting with Cloudy Bay Vineyard’s precision viticulture activities and operational tasks across all Cloudy Bay owned / managed vineyards in Marlborough.
Being a Vineyard Technician involves a high degree of precision and attention to detail, and requires a good understanding of vine physiology, phenology and pest and disease threats.
The key tasks of this role include, but not limited to:
- Yield estimation
- Pest and disease monitoring
- Irrigation management, and trials
- During the growing season - may operate together with Viticulture Technical Team to achieve the work programme applying to yield estimation activities, stem water potential measurements and maturity sampling
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years equivalent vineyard operations experience
- Experience in vineyard or other operational agricultural enterprise (desirable)
- Diploma level in horticulture / agriculture / viticulture (desirable)
- Experience in computing, including spreadsheets and data entry
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (desirable)
- Flexibility to adapt to differing work environments and vineyard sites
- Possess and show a sound understanding of viticultural principles and practices
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously
