To help us bring our vision for Portainer to life, we're searching for a highly skilled, go-getting, and self-driven QA Automation Engineer to ensure that our products, applications, and systems work correctly.
What does a QA Engineer do?
As a QA Automation Engineer, you will assess the software quality through automated testing. You will be responsible for finding and reporting bugs and glitches. Responsibilities will include:
- Design, execute, and maintain automated test cases using Cypress, JEST, and Playwright.
- Conduct manual testing when necessary to supplement automated testing efforts.
- Collaborate with the development team to identify, report, and track software defects in Portainer’s defect tracking system.
- Participate in the creation and review of test plans and test cases.
- Document and communicate test results, issues, and recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the QA processes and methodologies.
- Maintain and constantly expand a catalogue of automated tests and configure these to run automatically on every Portainer CI build.
- Provide build and release support.
- Research and advocate best practices and improvements for the build and release process.
- Maintain documentation of build, deploy and source control processes and conventions.
In this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. If you are also competent in creating and executing automated test cases and are passionate about quality, we'd like to meet you.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Automation Engineer or a similar role.
- Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes (or other container-based services) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in developing and executing automated test scripts in JavaScript.
- API Testing: Knowledge of API testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, and Playwright.
- Ability to document and troubleshoot errors.
- Ability to prioritise and multitask in a flexible, fast paced, and challenging environment.
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company's success.
- Critical thinker and problem-solving aptitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
